West Cave Preserve

This is slowly getting the depth of field that I wanted. The main thing that inspired me to do this painting was the light, so I have to work at getting the light on the ground brighter and lighter. I think the contrast is okay elsewhere, but am willing to work as slowly as I have to to really see what's going on with the composition.

Hi Connie. I'm reading about and looking at your work. You have a nice expressive way of painting, keep it going!
I hope you don't mind me making a suggestion on this latest piece. You said that you're working at getting a greater depth of field. From the photo of it, and that might not be accurate, it looks like you're using the same shadow color throughout the painting and just darkening or lightening it depending where you're using it in the picture's space.
Instead of that, cool the color as it recedes a little more, and even warm the color of objects moving toward the front of the picture plane.
I think that you'll get more spacial separation if you do that a little more than is being done now.
Thanks for bearing with me....

Thank you so much, Marc, for your advice. I'm working in palette knife and tend to work in stages and layers, knowing that I'll get to the warmer tones next.
Your words will be in my head as I paint on this next time; I always appreciate feedback from amazing artists such as yourself.
You have a wonderful grasp of light in all your paintings; that is what appeals to me in subject matter that I undertake.
Thanks again!
